Arthur J. Moore Evangelism Award Deadline March 31, Each Year MOORE AWARD Southwest Texas Conference Converted to the faith as a 20-year-old railroad flagman, Arthur Moore began as a lay worker in the church, was ordained as clergy at age 25, elected bishop at age 41.  Known for his flaming preaching style, Bishop Moore preached across the globe during his ministerial career, converting thousands of persons to the Christian faith by the power of his sermons. During his early days as a circuit-riding preacher, “he never converted a soul after his first sermon in one community—he got them all the first night.” – General Commission on Archives and History of The United Methodist Church

CRITERIA The congregation must bear fruits of its work in evangelism through any or all of the following: •    Increase in opening doors to the community      specifically offering      Christian community to those who have no church home •    Increase in offering of small group opportunities for growth      in Christ •    Increase in participating members’ outreach to the community •    Increase in number or percentage of professions of faith in     Jesus Christ •   Using unique and challenging opportunities to witness to     the love of God through Jesus Christ

PROCESS Nominations should be sent to the District Superintendent by the deadline, and should contain the sender's name, address and telephone.  Enclose a narrative describing how the church has lived out its call to evangelize, and give the name of the pastor of the congregation.  Final selection will be made by the District Superintendent.
