About Us
The UMCM offers ministry to two campuses in the Rio Grande Valley: University of Texas Pan American in Edinburg, and South Texas Community College in McAllen. Serving more than 14,000 students at UTPA, and more than 18,000 at STCC, the UMCM hosts a wide variety of programming. UMCM is conveniently located just across the street from UTPA.
We have an “open minds—open hearts—open-door” policy. You’re welcome to come to any of several weekly student lunches, where guest speakers motivate and inspire. Students from everywhere attend these lunches held in the ministry building.
There are group Bible studies, discussion meetings, and on-line Bible studies. UMCM students visit in homes and hospitals. We’ve participated in CROP Walk, 30-Hour Famine, Habitat for Humanity, and blood drives. A UMCM team participates in the national student event, Forum.
At STCC, a new member to our Southwest Texas Conference campus ministry family in 2001, student interns lead Bible studies and student faith enrichment meetings.
We’re ministering to the whole person. Communion is held once a month. Prayer concerns are shared weekly. Individual counseling is available daily. You are welcome to become a part of this ministry for however long you can remain.
