| Be tranformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. - Romans 12:2
Mission Statement To offer Christ to all through the development of new churches and the transformation of stagnant and dying congregations into fruitful and spiritually faithful dynamic mission posts of the advancing kingdom of God.
Vision To start new congregations every year that reach out offering Christ to all to diverse groups within the bounds of The Southwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church; to help United Methodist become the preferred choice of faithful and fruitful mainline congregations in Southwest Texas. Grow vibrant new congregations; revitalize and transform existing congregations to reach out to their community with the love and hope of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
About the Executive Director As Executive Director for New Church Development and Transformation, Kim Cape is a key point person for the Bishop and Cabinet of the Southwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church in designing and implementing ministries to fulfill the Conference mission of offering Christ to all.
Her primary focus is two-fold:
1. The planting, nurturing and development of new United Methodist Churches
2. Assisting churches in the Southwest Texas Conference in transformation to become healthy holistic outreach churches offering Christ to all.
New Demographic Tool Helps Churches Understand Their Ministry Area The office of New Church Development and Transformation on behalf of the Conference New Church Development Commission announces a new, innovative demographic tool for the churches and districts of the Southwest Texas Conference. This tool has been created by MissionInsite (http://www.missioninsite.com), an organization that uses real time data, calendar year information and 5-year projections with 50 demographic categories that may be selected.
The MI System provides a new way to access community information. This new and most current next generation of demographic based community information is available to churches 24/7 and includes the ability for churches to plot members and visitors on the conference map.
The New Church Development Commission contract allows for the first 53 Southwest Texas Conference churches that sign up to use the MissionInsight congregant plotting tool at no additional cost. After that, churches that enroll will be charged $75 yearly. For further information, please call or email Lynette Ramon (lramon@umcswtx.org) in the office of New Church Development and Transformation.
