Lay speaker training coming up

Wesley UMC, Harlingen, is to play host to the fall basic and advanced lay speaker training courses Nov. 4 and 18.
Course title for the advanced course is “Lay Speakers Create Disciple-Making Faith Communities.” The principle text is Next Church Now, which will be mailed to registrants if time permits.
Course participants are encouraged to read the text and prepare before the course. Fee for the advanced course is $35, which includes the book and lunch on both days. The Rev. Tim Brewer is teaching the class.
The basic course allows those who have never been a lay speaker or who have allowed their certification to lapse to learn about the program and become a basic lay speaker.
Cost of the basic course is $20 and includes the book and lunch on both days.
