Book discussion slated for Jan. 20
The Pastor’s Book Discussion Group is to meet Jan. 20 at the District Office.
This month’s book is Huston Smith’s The Soul of Christianity.
The discussion starts at noon. Bring a sack lunch.
The Pastor’s Book Discussion Group meets every third Friday at noon at the District Office.

UMW leadership development set
Austin District United Methodist Women will have their annual Leadership Development event Jan. 21 at First UMC, San Marcos. “One in the Spirit” is our theme as we come together with plans for the year ahead.
Worship will begin at 9:30 a.m. While sharing opportunities about membership, there will be a report from the Young Women’s Event in December at Mount Wesley. There will be training sessions for each officer in UMW as well as a section on circles. Program resources for 2006 will be available.
Come to share in worship, training sessions and fellowship with other women united in the PURPOSE of United Methodist Women.

District UMM to meet Feb. 18
All men are invited to attend the Austin District United Methodist Men’s quarterly meeting Feb. 18 at Simpson UMC, Austin. Highlighting the event will be Jim Horton, Austin District UMM scouting coordinator.
Simpson UMC, Austin, is at 1701 E. 12th St., phone (512) 472-8818. Registration and coffee begin at 7:30 a.m.
Plan now to attend the 2006 Southwest Texas Conference Men’s Retreat April 28 through 30 at Mount Wesley Conference Center, Kerrville. Mark this event on your calendar now, and start extending special invitations to the young men in your church.
