Laity awards nominations due by Jan. 15

Nominations deadline for the annual Austin District laity awards is Jan. 15.
The district will recognize excellence in ministry and innovation in programming during the Austin District My Job Workshop and Laity Celebration. The event will be Feb. 11 at Northwest Hills UMC, 7050 Village Center Drive, Austin.
The My Job Workshop will begin with registration at 8 a.m. Awards will be presented at the Laity Celebration luncheon, set for 12:30 p.m.
The award recipients will be chosen from nominations made by the local churches in the district. Bishop Joel N. Martinez is to present the Bishop’s Exemplar Award.
Each church is encouraged to submit recognition forms for at least five people from its congregation.
My Job training is for all leaders and potential leaders in the local church—lay leaders, trustees, administrative board members, treasurers, committee chairs, Christian educators, small group leaders and committee members.
Any church member who holds or aspires to a lay leadership position will find topics of interest and is encouraged to attend. This training program is especially valuable to new church leaders.
