BROADWAY
BY THE BAY 2004

“The Fabulous, Fun-filled Fifties” will be the theme of the annual dinner and musical revue, Broadway by the Bay, which will be presented by members of the Chancel Choir and For Your Inspiration March 5 and 6 in the Fellowship Hall of First UMC, 900 S. Shoreline Blvd., Corpus Christi.
The evening’s activities will feature the members of these two choirs as well as others in the congregation showcasing the music of the 1950s, including Broadway tunes, rock favorites and top-10 pop songs of the era. The setting will recreate the mood of a 1950s diner. In addition, a silent auction will be conducted during the evening featuring more than 50 items.
These two choirs are active in the music leadership of the congregation and in many other ways.
In 2002 the Chancel Choir was invited to participate in the International Church Music Festival at Coventry Cathedral in Coventry, England. The choir has accepted an invitation to participate in the 2005 festival in Bern, Switzerland.
In 2001 the choir released its first recording, “It Is I,” on compact disc. The next recording, “The Glories of Christmas,” will be released in 2004.
For Your Inspiration is a youth choir with members in grades 6 through 12. This choir takes an annual tour.
In 2003 the choir presented the musical “Godspell” in California. The choir has also presented concerts in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Michigan, Indiana, New Jersey, New York and Maryland.
Tickets for the Broadway show cost $17. All seats are reserved.
