St. Luke’s youths present ‘Fat Tuesday’
event to raise funds for teen programs

Barcus Moore Hall at St. Luke’s UMC, Corpus Christi, was decorated in festive Mardi Gras purple, green and gold for the Feb. 20 “Fat Tuesday” event hosted by the youths of the church. The all-you-can-eat pancake supper included crowning of the 2007 King and Queen, John and Jan Durr.
Outgoing king and queen Lewes and Laura Jones presented the royal scepters (adorned with an empty syrup bottle and pancake mix box) to the new rulers.
Pancakes were served with sausage, bacon or ham and toppings of syrup, apples, strawberries or chocolate sauce. A pancake-eating contest awarded the winner several meal tickets to the local IHOP restaurant.
During the evening, the Carroll High School Jazz Band entertained. The local ABC television affiliate covered the event. They story aired the same evening.
In addition to the pancakes and jazz band, face painting and a silent auction of items made by the youths were offered.
Proceeds from this event went toward St. Luke’s youth ministry.
