15 St. John’s UMC men model
for ‘Church Ladies Style Show’

Between talented mistress of ceremonies Sherrie Johnson and co-host/script writer, Ellis Keitt—not to mention 15 gorgeous models standing by to grace the runway—Feb. 16 was destined to be a date long remembered at St. John’s UMC, Corpus Christi.
St. John’s United Methodist Women heralded a womanless style show as its fun(d) raiser—and a most successful one it was. The group earned close to $2,000, thanks to all who attended the event and sponsored advertising.
“The Church Ladies Style Show” featured 15 men of the church, all decked out in colorful “church lady attire,” false eyelashes and masterfully applied makeup (not to mention appropriate padding). Makeup artists and costume designers did their part to
create a bevy of models.
Wigs and hats were provided by community resources, and more than 20 local companies and organizations helped underwrite the event. The advertisers were announced throughout the style show by name and telephone number.
“This was a huge success,” said Johnson, UMW president. “Not only did everyone laugh and have a great time, but UMW realized large proceeds, which will go toward the many mission projects UMW supports in outreach as well as within St. John’s.”
Church folks around the conference are invited to contact St. John’s at (361) 991-4342 to get more information about how the style show was conceived, the wonderfully written script and how UMW staged the event. More than 120
attended the Friday evening show.
