“TUMCA’s mission statement—‘Helping Texas United Methodist students attend Texas United Methodist colleges and universities’—expresses a deep commitment to faith-based Christian education,” said retired
Bishop Dan E. Solomon, association president.
“A partnership, which begins with local churches paying their apportionments, also includes the conference, TUMCA, and the five colleges and universities. This partnership and the resulting distribution of funds—which are used solely for student scholarships—demonstrate to our youths that we care about their educational journeys.”
As a result, Solomon said, young people are nurtured within a Christian community while persuing their education.
