Bishop taps Cape to
lead Austin District
The Rev. Kim Cape, superintendent of the McAllen District, has been named superintendent of the Austin District of the Southwest Texas Conference.
Cape will be succeeded by the Rev. Larry Howard, currently senior pastor of First UMC, San Angelo. (See related story on Page 1.)
Bishop Joel N. Martinez recently announced his intention to make this appointment change during the June 7-10 Southwest Texas Annual Conference session in Corpus Christi.
As superintendent, Cape is an extension of the bishop’s office and advises Martinez on pastoral appointments.
She has provided spiritual and administrative leadership to pastors and members of congregations in her district since 2002 and represents The United Methodist Church hierarchy to them.
