Harlingen Good Friday drama
shows Pharisees’ perspective

First UMC, Harlingen, plans to present One Voice, a musical drama, Good Friday, April 14.
One Voice is a powerful look at the ministry and passion of Jesus as it might have looked through the eyes of two of the Pharisees, Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea.
Both men are mentioned in the Bible. Accounts of their actions show they were sympathetic to Jesus. Nicodemus met with Jesus in secret at night. He struggled with Jesus’ mandate that you must be born again.
Joseph of Arimathea donated the tomb in which Jesus was buried.
One Voice fills in the gaps in their stories. It presents a new way of looking at Jesus’ story and helps us think about our story. It is a bit like The Passion of the Christ meets The Best of Broadway in a powerful and appealing way.
In the program, Jesus is baptized, forgives the woman accused of adultery, rides triumphantly into Jerusalem, carries his cross to Calvary and is crucified.
The story will draw you in and make you think, “Who was Jesus?” and more importantly, “Who is Jesus to me?” Then you will get the chance to celebrate joyfully with his followers when news reaches them of his resurrection.
The performance will be in the Raimond Christian Center at 206 N. 24th St., directly behind the First UMC, Harlingen, sanctuary, which is at Third and Harrison.
The program begins at 7 p.m.
