Churches plan joint Maundy
Thursday, Good Friday services

First UMC, Harlingen, and Wesley UMC, Harlingen, will be joining for a Maundy Thursday and a Good Friday service.
Both congregations are to gather April 13 at Wesley UMC for Maundy Thursday worship and communion service.
The congregations are to meet April 14 at First UMC for Good Friday service.
Both services begin at 7 p.m.

Lay speaker training set for April

Are you interested in becoming more proficient in spreading the word of God? Are you a lay leader in your church? Do you teach Sunday school or lead a small group? If so, you are a candidate for the Lay Speaking Ministry.
The McAllen District Lay Speaking Committee has scheduled training for basic and advanced classes April 28-29 at Trinity UMC, McAllen.
The basic class is for those with no previous experience in lay speaking. If you’ve taken a basic class, you must take an advanced class within three years to maintain your status in the lay speaking program.

Confirmation Rally planned for May 21

The annual Confirmation Rally for the McAllen District will be Saturday, May 21, at Pharr UMC.
The schedule includes large and small group activities, lunch, singing, worship, and a special yoking of the confirmands by Bishop Joel N. Martinez. All confirmands, pastors, mentors and parents are invited to attend. Cost is $3 per person.
