Concert tonight features First UMC Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir of First UMC, Corpus Christi, is to present Robert Ray’s “Gospel Mass” in a Good Friday concert at 7 p.m. today in the sanctuary.
The concert is free and open to the public.
First UMC is at 900 S. Shoreline Blvd.
The performance is to feature soloist Kenja Johnson, a Corpus Christi music instructor and member of St. Paul’s UMC. The program is to be conducted by Brad Kisner.
In “Gospel Mass,” Ray combines centuries of Mass traditions with the celebration of what he calls “true African-American worship.”
The “Gospel Mass” has become a standard part of the choral repertoire and is performed by churches, colleges, universities, orchestras and civic choral groups nationally and internationally.
