Conference changes address for U.S. Mail delivery

Readers who contribute articles and letters to us by U.S. Mail should start using a new address: 16400 Huebner Road, San Antonio 78248-1693.
United Methodist Witness—along with other Southwest Texas Conference offices in San Antonio—has begun using the United Methodist Center’s San Antonio street address for U.S. Mail delivery. After Sept. 30 we will no longer receive mail at our post office box.
Until then, Southwest Texas Conference offices—including the San Antonio District—will have mail delivered to both addresses. So don’t worry if you have mailed us something recently. We’ll get it.
We urge you to begin using the street address now on all mail sent to the Southwest Texas Conference.
This address change doesn’t apply to mail sent to Bishop Joel N. Martinez or the Rio Grande Conference offices at the United Methodist Center.
The bishop’s office and the Rio Grande Conference will continue to use the separate post office boxes they have maintained since the United Methodist Center opened in 1996.
We are making this address change as a result of new procedures at our local post office. It no longer guarantees delivery to post office boxes before 10 a.m. That late delivery sometimes means two trips to the post office in a morning to check for critical mail. Current street delivery usually arrives before 10 a.m.

Using delivery to the street address should allow us to use our time more efficiently and not worry about whether we have all the mail each day.
The transition to exclusive street delivery for Southwest Texas Conference mail is expected to take 18 months. For one year after Sept. 30, mail addressed to our current post office box will be forwarded to 16400 Huebner Road. After that, mail will be returned to sender marked “Forwarding Order Expired.”
During the next few months we will be transferring postal permits to the street address and exhausting stocks of stationery and forms. That means you may still see the post office box address on mail from the conference. Please ignore it, and use the 16400 Huebner Road address.
