Support group starts for stressed parents
Want help in managing the stress of parenting?
Ana Irizarry will provide inform-ation and tools to use at home with your children through a support group. The group is to meet each Thursday for six weeks starting April 29. Sessions are to run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Faith UMC, 2701 S. Lamar, Austin.
Each session is to address a specific topic. Subjects include discipline, helping children succeed and self-care.
Group members in this supportive place are to help each other learn from experiences. The emphasis is to be on positive parenting.
Irizarry is a licensed professional counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist. She has more than 18 years experience working in mental health, mostly with children and families.
Irizarry has been a therapist at New Life Institute and Austin Child Guidance Center for almost 12 years. She is the presenter of the workshop, “Helping the Challenging Child Succeed.”
New Life Institute is a center for counseling, education and spiritual growth related to the Austin District. Counseling and consultative services are available to individuals, couples and families.
