Men’s Adventure 2007 focuses on prayer, ministryBishop Joel N. Martinez will kick off Men’s Adventure 2007—A Call to Action with a welcoming address April 27 at 7 p.m. at Mount Wesley Conference Center in Kerrville.
All men, including those who are not members of United Methodist Men, are invited.
The weekend adventure will empower and equip men to step forward through programs and ministries that have been shown to offer Christ to all through service in the church, community and beyond.
Volunteers will man the phone lines of the Upper Room Living Prayer Ministry April 27. Calls are answered live, with no recordings. Intercessory prayers are sent to prayer covenant groups around the world.
United Methodist Men contribute $25,000 a year to pay for the line. More than 36,000 calls are received each month.
The Rev. Harry Kahl, pastor of La Vernia UMC and liaison between United Methodist Men and the Southwest Texas Conference staff, will lead a prayer retreat the morning of April 28. He will base the study on James.
Starting at 1 p.m. that Saturday, three mission programs will be presented. Attendees will get detailed information about how to develop Amachi Programs, Society of St. Andrew efforts and United Methodist Committee on Relief Early Response ministries in their home churches.
The Rev. David Edgar, San Angelo District superintendent, will lead the April 28 worship service. It will include Holy Communion.
Cost for the full weekend (Friday through Sunday) is $110 and includes two nights of lodging. Friday and Saturday registration is $75 and includes one night of lodging. Saturday and Sunday registration is $80 and includes one night of lodging. Saturday only is $50 with no lodging. Commuters pay $70 for the full weekend, with no lodging.
