45 attend advanced class March 16-18
in Kerrville for certified lay speakers

Forty-five individuals completed advanced lay speaker training last month at Mount Wesley Conference Center, Kerrville.
The group completed a course titled “Lay Speakers Create Disciple-Making Faith Communities” by Craig K. Miller of the General Board of Discipleship in Nashville, Tenn., March 16-18.
The training encouraged lay speakers to think beyond the church doors and to reach out to the community in new ways, said Sam Dubberly, Southwest Texas Conference director of lay speaking ministries and one of the instructors.
Certified lay speakers must complete an advanced course every three years to maintain their status, Dubberly noted.
The next conferencewide training event is scheduled for next March, he said. Districts are planning additional events.
