Registration begins for youth summer camp sessions in June, July

Registration has begun for 2005 Southwest Texas Conference youth summer camps.
At least 500 young people—ages 12 to 18—are expected to sign up for the five camp sessions this year, said the Rev. Rusty Freemen, youth ministries director.
Camp sessions are scheduled in June and July:
> June 13-16: Propel Leadership Camp at Zephyr Baptist Encampment, Orange Grove, for students in grades 11 and 12 as well as college freshman and sophomores.
> June 26-30: Jesus and Me (JAM) Camp at Mount Wesley Conference Center, Kerrville, for students in grades 6 through 8.
> July 17-21: Comanche at the H.E. Butt Foundation Camp, Leakey; for students in grades 6 through 8.
> July 17-21: Windsong at the H.E. Butt Foundation Camp, Leakey, for students in grades 9 through 12.
> July 24-28: Quest Camp at Mount Wesley, Kerrville, for students in grades 9 through 12.
The Propel Leadership Camp is a new offering. Designed for older teens, the camp focuses on the spiritual disciplines for those considering a call to ministry.
Scheduled summer camp speakers include:
> Ryan Barnett, associate pastor of University UMC, San Antonio.
> Derrick Campbell, seminary student and youth speaker from Fort Worth.
> Micah Nicolaus, seminary student and youth speaker from Dallas.
The Mark Swayze Band from First UMC, Waco, is to lead worship at Mount Wesley and HEB camps.
Kory Bomar from Dallas is to lead worship at Propel. Special guest Shannon Cutts is to perform a concert at Propel.
“Our youth summer camps are an awesome opportunity for youths to either meet Jesus Christ for the first time or to make a rededication of their lives,” Freeman said. “We provide an atmosphere of fun and fellowship while offering a chance for youths to grow in their relationship with God.”
