Cotton Patch Gospel:
The Greatest Story Ever Retold
The musical is based on the gospel of Matthew and features lyrics and music by American composer and lyricist Harry Chapin. The musical will be performed at St. John’s UMC, 5300 S. Alameda. Featuring a cast of 20 church members, the story is the musical retelling of the story of Jesus Christ, set in rural Georgia. Directing the production is church member Ellis Keitt.
Performances are scheduled as follows:
• Friday, April 30, at 8 p.m.
• Saturday, May 1, at 8 p.m.
• Sunday, May 2, at 3 p.m.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children and are available at the church office or through church members. If seats are available, tickets will be sold at the door. Advance reservations are encouraged. Seating is limited.
Complimentary refreshments will be served during intermission. Proceeds from the three performances will be directed to three local missions: Timon’s Ministry, Bokenkamp Children’s Center and Metro Ministries as well as to the St. John’s mission trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo July 1-15.
