28 St. Mark UMC ladies reorganize UM Women
By Jenna Heart
Twenty-eight ladies began exploring the idea of revitalizing United Methodist Women at St. Mark UMC, McAllen, during a recent Saturday afternoon retreat.
The UMW was disbanded last year, but the need for fellowship, mission, study and retreat was being felt by a whole new generation of women.
Within the course of a Saturday afternoon retreat, ideas flourished, and excitement mounted.
A president, scrapbooking historian and a treasury duo were elected and pledges gathered for global missions.
The following Sunday, President Jennifer Rodriguez gave a spirited invitation to all the women of the church to sign up and not miss the fun. The next event was April 17, and the current e-mail list of members is 62! The first study selected is “Bad Girls of the Bible!” Even the men seem interested in the topic!
