Weslaco UM Women complete 6 quilts for critically ill children in area hospital

Members of United Methodist Women at First UMC, Weslaco, show off their new quilts for ill children. Members are (from left, standing) Carol Gorman, Ginger Kahutek, Julia Slaughter, Barbara Kendall (local unit president), Marguerite Wiegand, (sitting) Ilda Vasquez (Southwest Texas Conference UMW president) and Jeanniene Hunter. The group completed six baby quilts. The quilts were delivered to Knapp Medical Center for critically ill children. The women asked members of the church to help “finish” the quilts by tying yarn knots and lifting a prayer for the eventual recipient of each quilt. The response was wonderful and gave the entire congregation the opportunity to help with the project.
