Christ is risen, indeed! It’s great season!

Christ is risen!

Christ is risen! Christ is risen, indeed! It has been a great Lenten/Easter season for us in the McAllen District.
Fifteen persons joined Trinity UMC, McAllen, Easter Sunday! The Holy Spirit is moving among us. Our cluster meetings with Don Nations started the Monday after Easter, and our attendance and participation have been excellent.
The extended cabinet met with Nations April 19 at First UMC, Raymondville.
Our District Revitalization Project—Building the Kingdom, Transforming a District— has gotten off to a great start with 25 churches participating.
We received a $15,000 grant for three years from the Southwest Texas Conference New Church Development Commission to support our effort. Praise God!! We are grateful to the Rev. Harry Kahl, conference congregational growth director, for his groundbreaking work on which we are building.
As most of you know, General Conference begins in Pittsburgh April 27 and continues through May 7. Many important matters will be considered by 998 delegates from all over the world.
To extend our local knowledge and conversation on the issues facing General Conference, we are hosting a “Listening Post” meeting April 22 at First UMC, Harlingen, at 7 p.m. for pastors, lay delegates and all who have an interest.
For information about daily proceedings, check The United Methodist Church website at www. umc.org.
Our districtwide barbecue to support our McAllen area episcopal candidates, the Rev. Roberto Gomez and the Rev. Robert Schnase, was a great success, raising $450 for the Raquel Martinez Scholarship Fund at Lydia Patterson and more than $800 each for our candidates.
These funds will help them defray the considerable expense incurred by traveling to interviews all over our South Central Jurisdiction.
Christ is risen, indeed!
