for program, transform meeting space

Youths from various Alice churches recently met about a new youth program called CROSSBAR (coffeehouse).
CROSSBAR will be a place for students from eighth through 12th grades to gather every Wednesday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. to discuss recent events and how they relate to God’s word.
First UMC, Alice, has allowed students to turn the youth rooms into their own creations. The group has already started the transformation.
The group has had three very successful meetings, thanks to the leadership of Anna and Judy Holmgreen. The sessions averaged about 12 teens.
At the meetings, participants agreed on a group name, what they would like the coffeehouse to look like and what color the rooms would be painted. The group designed T-Shirts to represent this program.
The group decided to participate in Relay for Life March 30-31 as its first community project.
During the last meeting, members started to wipe down the floors, baseboards and parts of the walls. Teens decided to have an additional meeting March 26 to finish the cleaning and begin painting.
The room was completely covered in aqua bay paint.
With the hard work of many, CROSSBAR Coffeehouse will be ready to open its doors soon.
