By Vicki Huet
Lay speaking secretary
The Austin District Lay Speaking Committee has launched a new communication tool in March.
The Lay Speaker is designed to help educate, assist, inform and inspire members of the Austin District lay speaking community. The quarterly newsletter will be available to all members of the laity.
The project is being led by District Director of Lay Speaking Emmett Eary of First UMC, Pflugerville; Debbie Sandifer of First UMC, Elgin; James Huet, newsletter editor of Cedar Creek UMC; and Vicki Huet, lay speaking secretary and newsletter submissions and subscriptions coordinator at Cedar Creek UMC.
Lay Speaking Committee members Elley Morgan, St. Mark’s UMC, Austin; Eben Files, Cedar Creek UMC; Jon Griesheimer, St. Mark’s UMC, Austin; Tami Anderson, Northwest Hills UMC, Austin; and Bill Cain, Northwest Hills UMC, Austin, are taking active parts compiling and producing The Lay Speaker.
Each quarter we will publish a feature editorial from one of the Lay Speaking Committee members. Polls will be compiled to determine the interests of participating laity, their needs, educational interests, etc. Poll results will be
published in the following newsletter.
Articles are being actively sought and encouraged. Submit articles by mail to The Lay Speaker, Editor James Huet, P.O. Box 38, Cedar Creek 78612 or by e-mail to RevJim@peoplepc. com.
