Sadie Hawkins Sweetheart Banquet
attracts many


The United Methodist Women at First UMC, Robstown, decided it would be fun to invite men to a Valentine banquet this year. They called the Feb. 14 event the “Sadie Haw-kins’s Sweetheart Banquet.”
The churchwomen served barbecue chicken, rice, beans and all the trimmings, plus Valentine-decorated cupcakes. The women invited men to come enjoy the food, entertainment and fellowship.
Several people from the community
also attended.
Carla Edge played the piano, and everyone sang love songs. Donnie Jackson and Cara Edge each sang a solo. The banquet was such a success that we hope the ladies will continue to do it each year.
