District youths gather for
yearly membership rally


Thirty-seven Corpus Christi District young people joining The United Methodist Church this year participated in the annual Confirmation Rally April 28 at First UMC, Rockport.
The theme for the event was “Jesus, Proclaim the Name.”
The service of celebration and commitment was led by the Rev. Barbara J. Ruth, Corpus Christi District superintendent.
About 130 attended the rally and worship service.
Confirmands from participating churches assisted with various parts of the worship service.
Austin Hagemann and Robin Hall, confirmands from First UMC, Portland, spoke to the group about their participation in confirmation and the impact it has had on their lives.
All who attended the rally were inspired by the 37 young people who stepped forward to claim the name of Jesus Christ.

> First UMC, Portland: Bodie Robbins, Gil Ramirez, Michael Stich, Brode Harrington, Joshua Sampson, Ryan Pratt, Amanda Allen, Taylor Tumlinson, Hunter Teel, Ryan Feikls, Ashley Evetts, Jill Huber, Robin Hall, Austin Hagemann.

On behalf of Bishop Joel N. Martinez, Ruth presented each confir-mand with a small wooden cross from the Holy Land.
Praise music before and during the service was provided by Debra Scott and Prophecy of St. John’s UMC.
The offering of $454.21 was designated for the Methodist Children’s Home in Waco.
Confirmands were supported by their families, pastors, sponsors/mentors, Christian educators and youth directors.
