McAllen, Rio Grande Southern Districts share ideas

The McAllen District and the Southern District of the Rio Grande Conference are to meet for lunch June 3 at the annual conference session to brainstorm and continue talking about joining forces.
Representatives from the two districts have been meeting for the last year to discuss the idea of creating Cooperative Resource Teams. These teams would be made up of laypeople from both the McAllen District and the Rio Grande Conference. The laypeople would provide short-term assistance to local churches on various topics, such as Sunday school curriculum, children’s ministry needs and ideas for youth activities.
The main focus of conversation at lunch will be finding out needs of churches and creating the teams. Teams are then to meet with churches to offer assistance in specific areas.
There is excitement within the two district Councils on Ministries as they partner to seek ways to empower churches in need and to offer Christ to all.
