90 youths participate in annual Confirmation Rally

Ninety Corpus Christi District youths participated in the annual District Confirmation Rally May 8 at First UMC, Beeville.
Confirmands, their families, sponsors/mentors, pastors, Christian educators and youth directors attended the celebration.
The theme for the event was “Christ’s Passion for Me, My Passion for Christ.”
The Rev. J. Keith Wyatt, district superintendent, yoked the confirmands and, on behalf of Bishop Joel N. Martinez, presented each a wooden cross from the Holy Land.
Debra Scott & Prophecy of St. John’s UMC, Corpus Christi, provided praise music during the worship service.


The service was led by confirmands from the participating churches.
First UMC, Beeville, provided greeters and acolytes. The welcome was given by youths from St. John’s UMC, Corpus Christi. Karnes County UMC led the greeting. Opening prayer was given by Faith United Church of Woodsboro. First UMC, Cuero, led the prayer of confession. Younger disciples’ time with pastors was led by First UMC, Portland. Prayer for illumination was given by First UMC, Three Rivers; scripture was read by First UMC, Taft; Nell Thompson, a confirmand from Grace UMC, Corpus Christi, brought our message. First UMC, Sinton, led the Apostles’ Creed. Offertory prayer was given by First UMC, Goliad. The Rev. Bill Duke blessed the elements for Holy Communion, assisted by Ingleside UMC. Clown Communion was presented by Grace UMC. First UMC, Refugio, led the Wesley Covenant Prayer. St. Peter’s by the Sea UMC, Corpus Christi, gave the benediction.
The offering was designated for UMC Conference Advance Special No. 2003, Wesley House (Wesley Community Center, Corpus Christi).
The service was awesome and truly a blessing to all who participated and attended.
