San Benito UMs brush up on conversational Spanish

¿Que Pasa? San Benito!
First UMC, San Benito, started its first-ever conversational Spanish class May 5. More than 40 students attended. The class is to run through June 30.
The conversational Spanish class was implemented to help build bridges between English- and Spanish-speaking congregations in the community.
The class is taught by Pastor Danny Longoria and Mario Rodriguez. Rodriguez participates in the Spanish-language worship service at the church.
After the first session is completed June 30, a potluck is planned for those who attended the class and members from the Spanish worship service. They are to come together to eat and share fellowship in Spanish.
The class is all part of the Hispanic ministry at San Benito church. The goal is to be able to communicate in a community where more than 89 percent of the residents are Hispanics, according to Link2Lead.com.
We are blessed with the amazing commitment from church members and look forward to making conversational Spanish an ongoing instruction.
