Cedar Creek evangelists to share good news in several ways during ’04
The Evangelism Team at Cedar Creek UMC plans several new ways of sharing the good news of Christ during 2004.
The team began a Bible drive this month in the 329-member congregation. Members are being asked to donate new or gently used Bibles to the outreach effort.
“Our goal for 2004 is to place a Bible in the hand of every single person in Bastrop County who wants one but can’t afford to buy one,” said Vicki Huet, team leader.
The team plans to have an information booth this month at the Cedar Creek UMC Spring Festival. A section is to be devoted to selling Christian books and gifts. Proceeds are to support the church building fund.
Team members were to distribute gifts and free Bibles May 13 during the Parent Appreciation Doughnut and Coffee Morning at Cedar Creek Childcare Center.
The team is building an evangelism supply trailer and stage. Church members can take the trailer “to various Bastrop County events throughout the year, handing out free Bibles, booklets, etc., and discussing Christ with anyone and everyone we can,” Huet said.
Team members are contacting worship visitors within 48 hours, Huet said. These evangelists thank guests for visiting Cedar Park and offer to answer any questions.
The team is creating an Evangelism Resource Library at the church, Huet said. Books and materials are designed to aid evangelistic efforts.
The team is planning two training courses:
> “Evangelism Explosion” in the late spring. The course is open to the entire congregation.
> “Beginnings—An Introduction to the Christian Faith” in early fall. The course is open to anyone interested in the Christian faith.
