Bulverde UMC starts building Habitat home
Members of Bulverde UMC teamed up with a New Braunfels family last week to begin building a Habitat for Humanity home.
A team of collage-age volunteers began work on the three-bedroom house in New Braunfels May 22. Volunteers worked this week to frame exterior and interior walls and begin roofing.
Adults from the 985-member congregation are to continue working with the Guerrero family each weekend during the summer.
Target time for completion is late August. The family hopes to move in following an Aug. 22 blessing ceremony.
The project, coordinated by Habitat for Humanity of Comal County, is designed to involve more Bulverde UMC members in mission work. In previous years church members traveled out of town to do mission projects.
