News in brief

78 congregations to welcome new pastors Sunday

United Methodists in 78 Southwest Texas congregations are to welcome new pastors Sunday.
The other 270 congregations in the region are to welcome clergy members returning for another year of service.
Bishop Joel N. Martinez fixed the appointments June 3 during the second day of the 146th Southwest Texas Annual Conference session.
United Methodist bishops assign clergy members under their supervision to posts annually. A pastor may serve a congregation for more than one year if the bishop reappoints him or her to that post.
Here are the 2004-2005 pastoral appointments made June 3. They are listed by district and city.
