Don’t sweat small stuff because everything’s small stuff!

Way Out West
There’s a story about a man who wrote an apology to a friend explaining an unfortunate situation and all that was being done to rectify the problem.
After a few weeks of wondering about what his friend’s response might be, the man received a letter in the mail that said:
“Richard, there are two rules for living in harmony:
“1.) Don’t sweat the small stuff.
“2.) It’s all small stuff.”
Dr. Richard Carlson became inspired to write the No. 1 New York Times best-seller that year.
What’s some of the small stuff we sweat? World peace? The death of a relationship or business or self? That’s pretty big stuff! But how much of our “stuff” isn’t earth-shattering and life-threatening?
Another person had a word for a lady named Martha.
“Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things. But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41-42.).
That comes from the King James Bible I received!
Hum. I admit it. I’m a Martha. You cool Marys have been such an inspiration to me that I’m now a recovering Martha. Another portion of the teachings of Jesus deals with worrying about things like moving to a new church or not moving to a new church! The concluding point: “...seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).
How about joining me in a list of big stuff and not so big stuff. Recently I visited with a pastor that I thought had some very big stuff. She witnessed to me that the really big stuff is not dying but living eternally. Her testimony from her sick bed was quite an inspiration to me.
Her main concern was her family, her church and not being treated any more special than anyone else. Her strong faith reminds me that in the final outcome, the only big stuff is being a believing Christian and acting like one.
”Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff…and it’s all small stuff.”
