District UMs honored
at awards banquet

People from the McAllen District received a number of awards at the annual conference awards banquet June 9. Recipients were:
> The Arthur J. Moore Award: First UMC, Harlingen, and the Rev. Steve Purdy. 
> The Youth Services Fund Project Award: First UMC, Harlingen, Youth, Phil Hoeflinger, director. 
> Inclusiveness Award: First UMC, Weslaco, and the Rev. Stephen Clinton. 
> The Harry Denman Evangelism Award: the Rev. Janne Clinton, Trinity UMC, McAllen.
> The Conference Merit Scholarship Award: Chelsea Brooke Rumbo from Wesley UMC, Harlingen. 
> Twenty-four churches were honored for their 5-Star status.
