Prayer-shawl work featured
at event during conference

The McAllen District prayer shawl ministry was described at this year’s annual conference as part of the Futures Committee June 9 dialogue sessions.
Some 50 people in the session heard firsthand how the ministry began a little more than a year ago. They saw pictures and heard stories of how prayer shawls helped to share the love of Jesus Christ with those who may be ill, hurting and in need of God’s tender mercies.
Many shawls were on display, and participants were invited to say a prayer as the shawls were passed.
The session was concluded with a blessing service and presentation of a shawl.
To date McAllen District churches have presented 230 shawls, with First UMC, Port Isabel, leading the way with 118 shawls.
