Churches plan goodbye event
for Ed Garcia family Sunday

Oak Park UMC, Corpus Christi, invites the community to a special united service with South Bluff UMC at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Visitors can celebrate Holy Communion during the Rev. Edward Garcia’s last service with the churches. Scott Elliff and the Oak Park Chancel Choir are to present special music. A covered dish lunch is to follow the service.
Garcia and his family are moving to McAllen, where he is to serve a Rio Grande Conference congregation.

Fashing UMC plans July 3
special service, fish fry

As many as 300 people are expected July 3 at 9:45 a.m. for the annual God and Country worship service at Fashing UMC.
Average attendance is about 30.
A fish fry is to follow the service. “This fish fry is kind of a ‘eucharistic’—thanksgiving—meal,” said the Rev. Jack Bush, “and in a way is a continuation of worship because these people really appreciate what God does to help all nations, but especially our United States.”
