Volunteer honored

Stan Pence, a member of St. John’s UMC, Corpus Christi, has won the 2005 Jefferson Volunteer Award from the Corpus Christi Caller-Times and KRIS-TV 6 News.
Pence, 70, was singled out for his work with Eagle Scouts, his church, the Montclair Elementary School and the Del Mar Service Learning Center, as well as for donating more than 200 pints of blood.
He now qualifies for the national Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award for Outstanding Public Service Benefiting Local Communities.
The American Institute for Public Service names five award winners. The institute was founded in 1972 by the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, former U.S. Sen. Robert Taft Jr. and Samuel Beard, former staff associate to the late U.S. Sen. Robert F. Kennedy to create a Nobel Prize-level award for public service in the United States. |
