8 ministry students receive $40,000 in scholarships

The Board of Ordained Ministries is awarding $40,000 in scholarships to Southwest Texas Conference ministry candidates for the coming school year.
Eight scholarship recipients were selected May 24 and announced June 2 during the Southwest Texas Annual Conference session in Corpus Christi.
Receiving scholarships for the 2005-06 academic year are:
> Paul Allan, Parker Lane UMC, Austin, $4,000 for studies at Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, Ky.
> Barbara Aziz, First UMC, San Marcos, $7,000 for studies at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
> Paul Evans, First UMC, McCamey, $7,000 for studies at Southern Methodist University’s Perkins School of Theology, Dallas.
> Jan Fletcher, Manchaca UMC, $2,000 for studies at SMU’s Perkins School of Theology.
> Leigh Gregg, Sierra Vista UMC, San Angelo, $2,000 for studies at SMU’s Perkins School of Theology.
> Wade Lindstrom, Northwest Hills UMC, Austin, $7,000 for studies at Austin Presbyterian Seminary.
> Marta Pena, Covenant UMC, Austin, $7,000 for studies at Austin Presbyterian Seminary.
> Lee Romero, Dripping Springs UMC, $4,000 for studies at Austin Presbyterian Seminary.
