Report from Mount Wesley preteen camp

By Jefferson Reese
First UMC, Austin

My name is Jefferson Reese. I am 11 years old and a member of First UMC, Austin. I have just finished the 5th grade and my second year at pre-teen camp. This year the theme of the camp was about peace. We learned about having peace with our enemies.
At preteen camp, you swim, do arts and crafts, and have recreation every day. You also do fun stuff with your family groups, which are groups of people from different cabins who interact with each other in challenge courses and social events.
My favorite part of camp is hanging out with the guys from my cabin. We closed out each evening with the lighting of the Christ candle, which is when we share with each other our needs, concerns and joys of the day. One of my other favorite parts of camp is when we go to the Bolivian Cross on the last day of camp.
So why don’t you go to preteen camp at Mount Wesley and have some great experiences like I have had?
