College graduation demonstrates
Montopolis support for youths

The Montopolis Friendship Community Center continues to support Austin area youths.
A graduation party honoring Carlos Ledesma, a recent graduate of Texas State University, San Marcos, took place at Ruiz Library June 27.
Ledesma received a Bob and Velma Miles Scholarship from the Friendship Center the last four years.
While in college, Ledesma worked for HEB, moving quickly from sacker to management.
Now a Texas State graduate with a degree in accounting, Ledesma is looking forward to working on an MBA.
During the past school year, Friendship Center has provided scholarship help to Montopolis students at Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio; McMurry University, Abilene; Coastal Bend College, Beeville; and two others at Texas State University.
Contributions to the Miles Scholarships can be made by mail to MFCC, P.O. Box 4691, Austin 78765.
In addition to supporting college students, the Montopolis Friendship Center offers service and social programs. The clothing room is holding summer sales on the first and third Saturdays, and bingo parties continue.
The Friendship Center, which suffered major roof damage in recent storms, is now having the roof repaired with the help of the Manchaca UMC Missions Commission.
The air conditioning system is still being studied before repairs begin.
