Two youth musical ensembles from Westlake UMC, Austin, combined to go on their first-ever music mission tour July 7 through today.
Youth Fuego, the youth vocal choir led by the Director of Music and Worship Diana Sanchez-Bushong, toured from Austin to Orlando and back.
The JV Ringers, the youth hand bell choir for grades 6 through 12, went along. It is led by Director of Bell Choirs Susan Finnigan.
The church’s youth director, Clayton Bowdey, assisted with the tour, which had 20 youths and eight adults participating.
The group left Austin and stopped at Mobile, Ala., where they led three worship services at Christ UMC July 9.
Then the group headed for Orlando, Fla., where members performed two shows at Disney’s Hall of Presidents in the Magic Kingdom Monday.
On the return trip the tour stopped in Pensacola, Fla., where the group performed at Sacred Heart Women and Children’s Hospital Thursday.
The tour program consisted of several sacred vocal and bell pieces as well as Disney favorites and a homegrown Celtic ensemble.
