Board awards $30,000
in
scholarships for seminary
The Board of Ordained Ministry has awarded $30,000 in seminary scholarships to Southwest Texas Conference ministry candidates for the coming school year.
The five scholarship recipients were announced June 8 during the Southwest Texas Annual Conference session in Corpus Christi.
Receiving scholarships for the 2006-07 academic year are:
> Carlos Gonzalez, Harlandale UMC, San Antonio, $8,000 for studies at Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, Ky.
> Wade Lindstrom, Northwest Hills UMC, Austin, $3,000, for studies at Southern Methodist University’s Perkins School of Theology, Dallas.
> Laura Lopez, Travis Park UMC, San Antonio, $8,000, for studies at SMU’s Perkins School of Theology.
> Jeana Martin, St. Luke UMC, San Angelo, $8,000 for studies at Princeton
> Tim Payne, Northwest Hills UMC, Austin, $3,000 for studies at SMU’s Perkins School of Theology.
Since 2002 the board has awarded scholarships for seminary education to promising candidates for ordained ministry in Southwest Texas.
