Healthy Congregations workshop
St. John’s UMC, Austin, is to be the site for a Healthy Congregations Workshop this fall.
The workshop will begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 30 and continue at 9 a.m. Oct. 1.
The Austin District Office and the New Life Institute are sponsoring the event. It is presented by the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center.
People interested in enhancing their capacity to manage self in a nonanxious and responsible way—whether in the church, the home, the workplace or the community—will benefit. This group could include pastors and other church staff members; people serving on a church council, personnel committee or pastoral relations committee; and all congregation members and leaders.
The workshop will help you:
> Learn how you as a leader can influence the health of your congregation—how to detect and avoid unhealthy patterns of living together in community.
> Learn how to keep anxiety from becoming infectious.
> Gain confidence in responding to challenges and opportunities.
> Learn how to put limits on invasive behavior, manage reactivity and overcome sabotage.
> Discover how to function as the congregation’s immune system.
> Learn to focus on strengths, resources, options and the future.
The registration fee is $45 per person (includes manual and lunch) or $75 for a couple (sharing one manual; two lunches).
St. John’s UMC is located at 2140 Allandale Road, Austin.
