Glory Dharmaraj to lead annual meeting
of Corpus Christi District UM Women


Glory Dharmaraj will be coming to Texas to lead the Corpus Christi District United Methodist Women’s annual meeting at Grace UMC, 11222 Leopard St., Corpus Christi, Sept. 22.
She will also be the UMW Day speaker for St. John’s UMC, 5300 S. Alameda,
Corpus Christi, Sept. 23.
Mark your calendars! We of the Corpus Christi District have a rare opportunity to have a person with Dhar-maraj’s gifts and graces among us for these two events, and we issue a warm invitation to people from across the district and the Southwest Texas Conference to join us at either or both events.
Dharmaraj is the director of Spiritual Formation and Mission Theology for the Women’s Division of the General Board of Global Ministries. Dharmaraj oversees the creation and development of the annual adult and youth Spiritual Growth Mission Study for UMW and is the curriculum specialist for Bible Wo-men Training in countries around the world—most recently in Angola.
She is also the administrator of the United Methodist Seminar Program on National and International Affairs at the Church Center for the United Nations in New York.
Dharmaraj spent her childhood on a tea estate in Sri Lanka. She did her undergraduate and master’s studies in India. She taught in Sarah Tucker College, Tamil Nadu, and Queen Mary’s in Mumbai, India. She received her doctor of philosophy degree from Loyola University of Chicago.
She has done special studies at Harvard University. She is currently completing a doctor of ministry program co-sponsored by San Francisco Theological Seminary and Ecumenical Theological Education in the World Council of Churches, Geneva.
Dharmaraj has authored and co-authored many books, including Concepts of Mission, Mutuality in Mission, and Christianity, Judaism, and Islam:  A Missiological Encounter. She is married to a United Methodist clergy-man. She loves listening to medieval Latin chants and lyrics in Tamil, her mother tongue.
