District happenings
TRANSFORMATION DEADLINE IS MONDAY: Churches need to tell Cheryl Worley at the District Office no later than Monday if they are participating in the Church Transformation Process. SIGNUP TIME APPROACHES: Registration deadline is Sept. 12 for September in the Hills at Mount Wesley Conference Center, Kerrville. Retired pastor Jerry Jay Smith is keynote speaker for the Sept. 19-21 event. It is designed for senior adults. Several Corpus Christi groups are planning to attend. If you would like to attend and don’t wish to travel alone, call the District Office. We will try to connect you with one of the groups.
PROFESSOR TO LEAD STUDY: The Rev. John Holbert, theology professor at Southern Methodist University, is to lead a special Bible study Sept. 16 and 17 at First UMC, Corpus Christi. The program begins Sept. 16 with a covered-dish dinner at 5 p.m. Holbert is to begin a session on “Job and His Nasty Friends” at 6:15. He is to teach Sept. 17 about “Job and His Mysterious God” from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. in the sanctuary. Holbert is to preach during the 10:50 worship service on “Truth to God.” For information call Marta at (361) 884-0391, Extension 217.
MUSIC RESOURCES AVAILABLE: Walter Davis wants to donate copies of Choristers’ Guild Newsletters from the 1960s and 1970s to anyone interested in using them for children and youth choirs.
