First UMC, Robstown, seeks certification, slates September events

First UMC, Robstown, is working toward becoming certified as a Welcoming congregation.
As part of that effort, the congregation has scheduled the following Open House Month activities:
> Sept. 3—Special invitations are going out to Rockport’s civil servants. The choir is to sing a special song written in honor of civil servants during the worship service.
> Sept. 10—During worship church members are to be remember the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, and honor the grandparents for Grandparent Recognition Day.
> Sept. 17—The congregation is to honor church volunteers for their service in the community and the church.
> Sept. 24—”Bring a Friend Sunday” is to be observed. Church members are to invite friends to attend worship and a covered-dish luncheon in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service.
