Teens pick colors for room to show plan of salvation

Los Fresnos UMC had an open house Aug. 13 in the newly decorated UM Youth Fellowship room.
It has new furniture and a new paint job featuring the plan of salvation.
“We had a meeting with the kids to see what color they wanted their new space painted,” said Myliss Stephens, junior high Sunday school teacher. “They asked if it could be painted six different colors.
“About two years ago, Pastor Harry West preached a sermon about a youth group that had painted its room with the Plan of Salvation, and our kids wanted to do the same thing.”
Youths painted the room black, red, blue, white, green and yellow. They put Bible verses relating to the plan of salvation with each color:
> Black—Romans 3:23.
> Red—Romans 5:8.
> Blue—Romans 6:4.
> White—Psalm 51:7.
> Green—2 Peter 3:18.
> Yellow—Revelation 2:10.
As they complete confirmation classes, youths are to make handprints on an unpainted wall and write their names and dates of confirmation.
The new room is already having a snowball effect, said Somer Robb, youth director.
Children not yet old enough for the youth program are asking when they can have a room like the older kids, Robb said.
