The Camping Committee of the McAllen District planned and organized the summer Faith Camp and Adventure Camp at Methodist Camp Thicket in Weslaco.

Deans of Faith Camp for 7th through 12th graders June 15 to 18 were Phil Hoeflinger from First UMC, Harlingen, and Jacob Hunter of First UMC, Brownsville.
A record 98 youths attended. The youths and staff had a great time of Bible study, games, fellowship, fun and worship.
A highlight of the camp was a concert by Only Everywhere. The group came to the Valley to share testimony and song with campers and staff of the Faith Camp.
The Youth Praise Band from St. Mark UMC, McAllen, led worship services each evening.
The Rev. Jet Throckmorton, the Rev. Mike McLaughlin, Phil Hoeflinger and Wilson Heacock were the camp preachers.
The Adventure Camp for children going into the 4th through 6th grades was July 10 through 13.
Deans of the camp were Mary Catherine Edwards and Kelly Holder of Wesley UMC, Harlingen. The 89 children and staff spent time hearing talks and participating in activities, games, Bible study, quiet times and worship.
The Children’s Praise Band from Wesley UMC, Harlingen, led the worship. The Rev. Roberta Goodman from Mercedes UMC was the camp preacher.
Both district camps had children and youths who made first-time commitments to Jesus Christ and some who recommitted their lives.
