Thanks to all who bought my book, helped school library

To all those people who purchased a copy of my autobiography, In the Line of No Resistance: God’s Will; to all who bought more than one copy to give to family members and friends; to all who made donations to conference Advance Special No. 2267, I express my profound gratitude.
As many of you know, I published my autobiography in 2005 as a mission project. I promised to use proceeds from book sales for modernizing the Biblioteca Moises Merubia at the Instituto Americano, the Methodist school in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
That library honors my father, one of the founders of Methodism in Bolivia.
The first $5,000 from the book sales—raised after paying costs of publication and editing—went to the library in Bolivia earlier this year.
I have been in touch via mail and telephone with the school administrator, Licenciado Jorge Chiri. The professors and the entire student body are heartily grateful for the contribution to the school library.
I have been informed that the first thing the school did was put a new roof on the whole facility. That roof covered the library as well.
Another thing the gift allowed was the purchase of reference books and a computer for use by professors and students.
All these expenditures addressed vital needs and enhanced the school’s educational programs.
The Biblioteca Moises Merubia still has other needs—among them a second computer. We will trust the judgment of those on the scene to decide how to use our contribution to meet whatever those needs are.
A few copies of my autobiography are still available. They are on sale for half price—$9.95—at the Cokesbury bookstores in Austin and San Antonio.
If you order books from me, the price is $14.95, which includes shipping and handling. In addition, I will autograph those copies.
We can still send more money from the sale of these final books to Bolivia for use by the Methodist school library in Cochabamba.
Christmas is closing in on us again. A copy of my book would make an excellent gift.
For people wishing to order books from me, make checks payable to the Southwest Texas Conference, and note Advance Special No. 2267 in the memo line. My address is 2204 Southern Oaks Drive, Austin 78745.
Thanks to all for helping me with this mission project.
Alberto Merubia, a retired Southwest Conference clergy member, began his ministry in the Methodist Church of Bolivia. He played a key role in sending the Bolivian Cross to Mount Wesley Conference Center, Kerrville, in 1950. He became the first Latino clergy member of the Southwest Texas Conference in 1956. He officially retired in 1985 but continued serving as a hospital chaplain for another 15 years.
